The Mechanics of PetMama NFC ID
1. Tag Attached to Collar
A rugged tag containing a passive NFC chip and high-contrast laser-etched QR code attaches to any PetMama collar or standard pet collar.
2. Simple Tap or Camera Scan
Anyone who finds your pet simply taps their phone to the tag or scans the QR code. No special application is required: the profile opens instantly in their mobile browser.
3. Direct and Fast Connection
The public page provides direct phone calls, WhatsApp chat, and a message form allowing the finder to voluntarily share their approximate GPS coordinates.
Everything Needed for Pet Safety
Emergency Lost Mode
Activated with a single tap from your owner portal: displays a prominent high-visibility lost alert banner, missing location notes, and finder instructions.
Privacy Control & Archive Mode
You control visibility: archive mode hides phone numbers and address notes, preserving only the pet's photo and basic identification.
Voluntary Finder Location
The person who scans the tag can choose to transmit their current location only after granting explicit browser permission. No forced GPS tracking occurs.
Zero Subscriptions or Batteries
The NFC chip is passive and never needs charging. Pet profile hosting is free of recurring fees for the lifetime of the service.
Important Facts to Know About the Tag
- ✔ The tag is not an active GPS battery tracker. It enables the person who has physically encountered your pet to reach you in seconds.
- ✔ An internet connection on the finder's smartphone is required to load the profile. Both NFC and QR link to the same secure address at petmama.md/pet/ID/slug.
- ✔ The 6-character public ID is immutable and never changes when renaming your pet, changing phone numbers, or transferring ownership.
